Dr. O.O Shoewu assumed duty in the department of Mechatronics Engineering in 2021. He studied B.Sc Electronic and Computer Engineering, M.Sc Electrical Engineering (Electronics and Communications) and PhD Electronics and Telecommunications.

He is Founder of Wireless Communication Research Group and Embedded system Research Group at LASU. He is pioneer in Radio-wave Propagation for Cellular Networks in Dryland and Wetland Terrains and wireless communication in autonomous vehicle design. His research interest also includes Computational Robotics analysis.

He is a member of International Statistical Engineering Association, a member of International Association of Computer science and Information technology, a member of International Society for Development and Sustainability, a member of the Society of Digital Information and Wireless Communications, a member of International Computer Science and Engineering Society.

He is also a member of Middle East association of Computer Science and Engineering, a member of Nigerian Institute of Management, a member of International Association of Engineers, a member of Nigerian society of Engineers and a registered engineer.

Ongoing Researches

A HATA PROPAGATION BASED MODEL IN SUBURBAN WETLAND AND SUBURBAN DRYLAND IN LAGOS TERRAIN

Accurate and reliable path loss prediction models are highly significant and they play major roles in determining where wireless communication networks are to be deployed. Simple soft Programming techniques will be exploited for path loss predictions in wetland and dryland propagation environments. Hence, in this paper, we present a customized and novel web-based propagation application for radio path loss predictions in wetland and dryland environment using JAVA script programming language. First, Received Signal Strength (RSS) and path losses in a specific Radio Access Network (RAN) within wetland and dryland propagation environment are obtained through a drive test measurement approach. A new model for radio path loss propagation known as SOUP (Software for Outdoor Propagation) has been developed for predictions in a built-up propagation environment. The study has developed a Hata path loss model and outdoor measurements using LTE GSM frequency at 700MHz. The model has been used and validated for suburban wetland and dryland Lagos. The values of modified empirical parameters of the Hata model are developed for the use of telecommunication providers in Nigeria to improve their service delivery to mobile users’ satisfaction in wetland and dryland terrains while keeping the quality of service at high rate without any loss of generality of the system.
